Volcano Lapbook To Be Posted

Tom has 3 more booklets to do and he is finished! Everything else is already glued in. He is really do nice work. He really dislikes to write but this he enjoys. I'm starting to make him do short little reports in his lapbooks. I do believe there was only one in this volcano lapbook. Oh, he also dislikes art, alot. So I'm trying to get him to use alot of color when he is gluing the booklets in. He did a black background with red, yellow, and orange behind the booklets. I'll try to post everything tonight or by the latest tomorrow. NOW POSTED

***Beginning Volcano Posts with books, websites, etc.*** http://lovinglifelapbooks.blogspot.com/2009/03/volcano-lapbook.html

Below, Meant to say A strip of paper slipped under the timeline booklet so that the booklet will not come undone and fall all over the place.

USA LAPBOOKS FINISHED

We used www.enchantedlearning.com for the booklets. You can use the pages or do a membership for $20.00 and you get more. I minimized the pages on my printer. For the "hinge" lapbook :

Volcano Lapbook

Tom has started a volcano lapbook. We are using some booklets from http://www.homeschoolshare.com/ and making our own.
He is still working on Wars of the Roses.
It's nice homeschooling because you can take a break from one thing and do another without worrying about being graded!!

AZTEC LAPBOOK FINISHED!

TOM DID ALOT OF WORK FOR THIS LAPBOOK. WE COULD KEEP ON GOING BUT I THINK WE WON'T. WE CAN ADD MORE AT ANOTHER TIME. THERE IS SO MUCH TO LEARN ABOUT THE AZTECS.

ABOVE, THE CLOTHING BOOKLET OPENS "THE OTHER WAY"; IT'S FLIPPED THE WRONG WAY. ;0)

BOOKS WE USED:

1. HOW TO BE AN AZTEC WARRIOR BY FIONA MACDONALD

2. YOU WOULDN'T WANT TO BE AN AZTEC SACRIFICE BY FIONA MACDONALD

3. CLOTHES AND CRAFTS IN AZTEC TIMES BY IMOGENE DAWSON

4. MONTEZUMA AND THE FALL OF THE AZTECS BY ERIC A. KIMMEL

5. THE AZTECS BY ROBERT NICHOLSON

6. THE AZTEC EMPIRE BY SHEILA WYBORNY

7. THE AZTECS BY DONNA SHEPHERD

8. EXPLORING THE WORLD OF THE AZTECS BY ELAINE LANDAU

9. THE AZTEC INDIANS BY VICTORIA SHERROW

10. THE CRAFTS AND CULTURES OF THE AZTECS BY JOANN JOVINELLY

IN ONE OF THESE BOOKS, I THINK IT WAS 'CLOTHES AND CRAFTS', SHOWS YOU HOW TO MAKE A JAGUAR MASK. WE WILL BE DOING THIS SOON.

THE REPORT PAGES ARE FROM www.holdthatthought.com I have many of the cd's.

Aztecs and Wars of the Roses

We have taken a short break away from the Aztec lapbook. We are working on the Wars of the Roses which will be very short. Afterwards, we will finish the Aztecs. It was just taking so long that it was getting boring. I will post the Wars of the Roses when finished.

Hinge on the back of USA "Lapbook"

The folders are overlapped maybe an inch. I trimmed the upper part of the overlap and glued the lower part.

Look at the other pictures below and you'll be able to see where the folds are.

I Hope you can understand this.

~smile~

United States "Lapbook"

Katie and Ana have started a United States "Lapbook"

It doesn't have booklets but opens up to a big U.S.A.

I used two regular sized file folders.

They are coloring in the states and will be adding the names.

On the parts of the file folder that do not have anything on them, I am thinking of having the girls put the state flags on and also the state abbreviations.

I will add 3 tabs on the outside so they can be put into a binder.

I was very surprised at how excited the girls were to do this.

Update 3/20/09: We are almost done. I have to make another flap for the girls and then they can glue their booklets on. Oh, we also have to get the names of the states printed out and glued on. They are doing a great job!

The booklets are from: www.enchantedlearning.com you can get a membership for $20.00 a year...I find it is worth it. I've been using this site since Becca started homeschool in 2002. (It was free then!)
